Processing purchase

I purchased an issue and its status doesnt change from "processing purchase"

Works Flawlessly

Its like having the really magazine with extras. Its interactive since you have many links to click within each page. Even video links ! Absolutely fantastic ! Thank you for this awesome app :)

Poor

Compared to other ezines the quality of this unforgivable. Everything looks cheap and over digitized. I tried to contact their customer service and got no reply. Dont settle for this.

Spooky Good

I love my digital subscription to Rue Morgue. Bright, easy to read and with all the juicy horror and culture in entertainment news you get with the print version. The hot links feature is an amazing bonus; just touch a movie review to view its preview. Just brilliant. If you are a horror nerd, this is a must have for your iPad.

Price too high

Price is too high - even Empire magazine is only $20 per year or $1.99 per issue. This is digital delivery and should be much cheaper than purchasing at the newsstand. Also, 50% or more of your magazine are ads - why is it so expensive for a digital copy when your advertisers are paying you so much revenue for the ads? Reduce your price to $2 per issue and I will definitely buy a subscription.

Nice App, great magazine, but buggy

Sigh...this has been an ongoing issue with this app, and they need to fix it - the current issue is never the issue you see when you open the app. Really, how hard is it to keep the magazines in order? Very poorly designed app. Magazines themselves are awesome and worth the subscription, but the app needs to be better designed.

Terrible resolution

I love Rue Morgue magazine. I was super excited about buying my first digital copy. Problem that I have is that the resolution will stay super low so I can never read the print. Hope u guys fix it. I really want to buy the special additions. Best horror mag ever tho!

Great magazine, poor implementation

First I should make it clear that I love (LOVE) Rue Morgue magazine, the content and quality of writing is consistently top notch and the design is impeccable (a rarity in the genre and all the more remarkable for it). Ive been eagerly awaiting this app for a couple of months, and the results are disappointing. Its tragic to see the promise of magazine publishing on the iPad fail due to shoddy implementation, much as 3D was once hailed as the savior of the film industry only to wither under an onslaught of retro-fitted cash-ins. I thought that Zinios lazy port of their desktop app was the low point of this particular genre, but Im sorry to say that my favorite magazine has sunk even lower. This is basically a PDF (which is something weve wearily grown used to), made worse by the inclusion of blue and red outlines added over the top of ad art and hot links. The reduced size means that reading at full page view is a challenge, but the enlarged view lags as it adjusts resolution and a side swipe is more likely to take you to the next page than the next column. Even glossing over the fact that second issue accepted payment but refuses to download, this has to be classed as a huge missed opportunity and we can only hope that Adobes recent announcement of their digital magazine tools (which should put more control in the hands of any publisher willing to fork out the $700 monthly subscription fee) will allow for more device-appropriate re-purposing, a consequent increase in readership and the ability to monetize that content.

Cool idea, but...

I love the ideas like being able to access media through the pages, but I have two complaints: 1) the price is too high. I know its probably worth that, but since I also buy the hard copy, its hard to spend the extra money. Perhaps even $4.99 would be more reasonable. 2) the issues come out pretty late. Id be a lot more tempted to buy them if the new issues came out before the hard copies. 3) the load times when enlarging a page are a little long.

Money eating garbage

I am a huge fan of Rue Morgue magazine and was thrilled to see an app allowing me to purchase digital issues. At first I loved this app, but I have had some recent issues that have made me very angry. Just today I bought the two latest issues at $6.99 each and also queued the other four issues I had previously purchased for updates the app said were available. The first issue downloaded with no problem but then everything stopped and the second issue, as well as all of the updates refused to download. I tried restarting the app, my iPad and even refreshing my wifi connection with no success. Finally I uninstalled the app altogether and reinstalled it. Upon reinstalling it I found that even while signed into the yudu account you are required to have in order to purchase RM issues, I had no option to recover the issues I had already paid for. Essentially my only option is to repurchase every issue I have already paid for or to write this review warning others not to wast their money on this garbage app. I plan to delete the app and think twice before giving anymore money to Rue Morgue magazine. Avoid this waste of money at all costs!

Nope, still broken

Very disappointed Issues just stop downloading short after they start. Maybe after they fix this.

Silly

This app "wants to collect my personnal info"! That is just plain pathetic.

One of my favorites

The problems people are identifying are old and have all been corrected. This is an amazing app of an amazing magazine. The amount of additional content that is available by the click of a button is amazing - links to You -Tube videos, web sites, etc. this is the future of the magazine industry!

Perfect now

Now that Rue Morgue is part of the news stand, gone are the issues that plagued the older app. The pinching and zooming are now more responsive. I can finally give this great magazine the five stars it deserves.

no more single issue purchases

Well, everything was going fine. Now all of a sudden , The latest issue ,march, is not coming up on the available issue page to purchase and download. Tried to contact app support, no website found. I was going to subscribe in the future. No way now. Too big of a risk for 49.99. Ruemorgue , please respond and fix this. great mag and I want it back!

Great app

The app is very cool - I like that it is an exact copy of the paper version with links to video clips and sounds (Audiodrome is much cooler this way) There is no restore purchases function, but the app does let you download again for free.

Problems, but....

Well, I was having the no load in issue. Very annoying. I emailed the magazine itself and actually got a personal response. Concerned for the trouble I was having ( which, by the way, it seems Im not anymore ) and asking for details to help fix. Hope its all good now, but in any case great service from these guys. If the app keeps sucking I will just buy the paper copy!

Very Good

Ive had none of the problems other users have complained about. I have been very satisfied with the app. Good work from my favorite magazine.

Great Mag App

Fast downloads. Great price with no rip-off up charging for digital content. Added bonuses. Hotlinks to FB and more. Good job.

Content fine...app leaves something to be desired

While I enjoy the content of the magazine and think the interface works fairly well, the app is buggy. In the year Ive been using the app, Ive had to reinstall it at least 6 times due to an ongoing problem, in which the app gets stuck in a loop when you are attempting to download an issue. While already downloaded content is still accessible, this loop prevents any new content from downloading. As far as I can tell, once this loop is entered, the only way to end it is to delete the app....which removes the content...and necessitates downloading everything again. This is very annoying. So, content is five stars (I like most of the writing), user interface for the magazine is four stare, but the app performance for downloading new content knocks the app down to two stars. If I cant get new content or I need to repeatedly download the same content then that is a serious problem. 26Aug13 - update: the problem detailed in my initial review remains. It appears to be triggered whenever the app auto deletes content due to space issues on the ipad. This should be something that the app owner addresses, as it is very annoying.
